This hand carved coconut kalimba is bowl-shaped that generates increased resonance. The 7 metal tines can be tuned to create different types of sound. Kalimbas, or idiophones, has been a part of African culture for hundreds of years. This instrument is sometimes called a thumb piano. They are played with the thumb and forefinger. 5 1/2" diameter
